Who We Are

Little Travellers Australia was formed by a group of young Australians, mostly students, intent on making a practical difference to the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS in South Africa.

Our Mission:

To raise awareness about the HIV/AIDS epidemic in South Africa, and to provide tangible support for those affected and infected.

Our Goals:

  1. To raise funds for the Hillcrest AIDS Trust Centre
  2. To provide sustainable employment for men and women in Hillcrest affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic
  3. To make Little Travellers a recognised symbol of hope in the global campaign to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa

Our Values:

Respect.  We draw inspiration from the tremendous courage of the people we support in the face of great hardship, and strive to empower them towards self-sufficiency.

Integrity.  Our organisation is run entirely by volunteers.  The money given to us goes directly to the beadworkers and to the Hillcrest AIDS Trust.

Compassion.  We recognise the great toll the HIV/AIDS epidemic has taken in the areas we operate, and work to alleviate some of the suffering it has caused.

Inclusivity.  We welcome all people to join us in our work regardless of faith, race, gender, religion, or sexual preference. (The Hillcrest AIDS Trust itself is an organisation based on Christian values.  They treat people regardless of faith, and in all our work with them have found them open, inclusive and tolerant.)

Partnership.  We recognise that we can achieve far more when we join with others in our work.  Our relationship with the people we support is also one of partnership – we receive as much as we give.
